Republican Senator Announces Candidacy and Promises Action, Competition in Attendance.

Arizona Senator John McCain announced his candidacy for the presidency of the United States today. His speech took place at the University of California, Davis campus late this afternoon; all fellow presidential candidates where in attendance. In his message to the nation, McCain touched on his objectives for the future in view of existing challenges. His goals were both domestic and international in scope.

McCain made reference to issues such as Islamic extremism, military over-extension, and U.S. diplomacy. Domestic concerns regarding government accountability in the after-math of natural disaster, problems with Medicare and Social Security, high taxes and dependence on foreign oil were also addressed.
