MCCAIN UNDULY CRITICIZED FOR SUPPORTER’S COMMENT
At a campaign event on Monday Senator McCain was asked, “How do we beat the bitch?” by one of his supporters, referencing Hilary Clinton. McCain, who responded by validating the question and without chastising the woman, was harshly criticized for his reaction following the incident. On Wednesday the Republican Senator explained himself saying, “I made light of the comment, and then I said very seriously I treated and continue to treat Senator Clinton with respect…I can’t dictate what people say that’s not my business.” McCain went on to explain that given the nature of the event, which took place at a restaurant and was attended by political adherents it would have been inappropriate to correct the woman. He was asked about the episode again Thursday at a UC Davis press conference. Afterwards, some wondered at the lack of real issues covered at the press event. The frenzy around the incident was considered a division from the other, more pressing concerns that ought to have been addressed.

Thursday's Press Conference- an Afterthought
As our own Ms. McCain stated, we cannot control nor dictate what people say. We, the McCain team of Sociology 118 and the real McCain team both respect Ms. Clinton and do not condone the that type of language or degradation. In fact, in real life Mr. McCain made it clear that he shares a very good relationship with Ms. Clinton and knows that her own campaign did not take the comment to heart.
